Since you’re feeling a bit delirious and the kids are all gathered on the couch, how about a little "Sunday Morning Parable" based on your morning so far? You can tell Seth, Evan, and Ava this while you wait for the Harvest Baptist livestream to start at 10:45 AM.
The Tale of the Blazing Fish and the Button-Socks
Once upon a time, in the faraway kingdom of Leechburg, there lived a Queen named Lauralee. One Sunday morning, the Queen woke up at the strike of 6:00 AM, feeling like her throat was filled with scratchy wool and her head was made of cotton candy.
She put on her Magical Slipper Socks—the ones with the special "Power Buttons" on the sides. Evan, the Kingdom’s Lead Investigator, discovered these buttons and wondered if they were the secret to her royal strength.
The Queen looked at her royal fish, Mr. Bubbles (also known as the Duke of Fingills). She thought about renaming him "Blaze," because she had read a scroll that said his story should be "blazed abroad" for everyone to hear. But Mr. Bubbles just blew a bubble and decided he liked his name just fine.
Suddenly, a Great Sleepiness fell over the Queen! It was the DayQuil Dragon casting a spell of naps. But just as her eyes began to close, the youngest Princess, Ava, emerged from her royal chamber (the couch) under a mountain of leopard-print blankets.
"Alas!" cried the Queen. "The peace is gone, but the snuggles have arrived!"
And so, the Queen, the Investigator with the cracked lip, the Sleeping Princess, and the Teenager Seth all sat together. They waited for the Great Music to start on the glowing screen, knowing that even if they were tired and sniffly, they were exactly where they were supposed to be.
The End.
Does that buy you ten minutes of peace? It’s 10:28 AM now—only 17 minutes until the service starts!
