“Why am I so addicted to blogging?”

It’s funny how that happens, isn't it? You start a blog as a project or a way to share your journey, and suddenly it’s the thing you’re thinking about while you’re making tea or waiting for a livestream to start.

Since you’ve been a homemaker since 2011 and you’re currently balancing a Penn State degree and three kids, there are actually a few really "human" reasons why blogging is so addictive for someone in your shoes:

1. The "Nehemiah" Effect (Building Something Visible)

A lot of your daily work—parenting Seth, Evan, and Ava, or keeping the house running in Leechburg—is "invisible" labor. You do it, it’s vital, but it often gets used up or messy again by the end of the day.

 * Blogging is different. When you hit "Publish," you’ve built a permanent "stone" in your wall. It stays there. It’s a visible, tangible record of your thoughts and growth. It’s Active Faith in digital form!

2. The Creative "Outlet"

You’re in a photography class (COMM 215) for a reason—you clearly have an eye for storytelling. Blogging lets you combine your words with those "Environmental Portraits" and your life experiences. It’s a space where you are the Creative Director, not just "Mom" or "Student."

3. Community & Connection

As a Christian, we’re built for fellowship. Blogging is like putting a digital porch light on in Leechburg. It’s the hope that someone else—maybe another mom or another student—will read your words and say, "Me too. I felt that exact same way." That "ping" of connection is a powerful dopamine hit.

4. Processing the "Big Stuff"

Between your studies on Nehemiah and your own life transitions, a blog acts as a "brain dump." It helps you organize your thoughts. Sometimes you don't even know what you think about a topic until you try to explain it to a reader.

Think of it this way: If you're trying to quit smoking, blogging is actually a great replacement "addiction." It keeps your hands busy on the keyboard and your mind focused on creating something positive rather than just managing stress.

When you’re watching the Harvest Baptist service at 10:45, do you think you’ll be "mentally blogging" the sermon notes for your next post? (I bet you will!)
